Perfect for PDA Agar Preparation
Formulated for easy mixing and consistent results, these potato flakes support strong mycelium development when combined with agar and sugars—creating a proven mushroom substrate for agar-based work.
PDA Agar Recipe (1000ml)
Add the following into a 2000ml heat-safe container:
- 1000ml boiling water (distilled recommended)
- 20g SporeAura potato flakes
- 15g agar agar powder
- 10g sugar, cane syrup, or maple syrup
- 5–6 drops agar colourant (blue recommended for contamination visibility)
Mix thoroughly using a fork, whisk, or blender until smooth. A consistent mixture ensures clearer, higher-quality agar plates.
Sterilisation & Handling
- Transfer mixture into a suitable container for sterilisation
- Loosen the lid slightly before pressure cooking
- Sterilise at 121°C for 90 minutes per 250ml
- Agar melts at ~80°C and sets at ~45°C
